PASBA Small Firm of the Year awardee and business accountant C. Gregory Orcutt was recently featured by Cincinnati.com's Melinda Zemper about his experience in co-authoring Six Steps to Small Business Success, a guide to small business startup and success. Gregory collaborated with fellow CPAs R. Sean Manning, Lowell G. Lillge, David J. Lucier, and Bert Doerhoff to write the book, which received the 2011 Book of the Year Award from the Professional Association of Small Business Accountants.

James is nominated for his newly published poetry collection, Afro Clouds & Nappy Rain: The Curtis Brown Poems. Special Forces vet publishes third thriller that honors Hmong

Kingsport Times-News reports that iUniverse-published author Dr. J. H. Dixon, a Nickelsville, Virginia native, former Green Beret instructor, and Vietnam War veteran, recently released his third thriller, The Secret War: A Melungeon Brothers Thriller. Jay, as he is fondly called by friends and family, draws heavily on his experiences in the US Army Special Forces and dedicates this action-packed military fiction novel to the Hmong veterans he trained with between 1960 and 1970.

Edward T. Frye, a retired teacher, regales Ed Mahon of the Centre Daily Times with anecdotes and stories during an interview about his recently expanded collection of tales, Fools and Children. Edward republished his book in June 2011 to add several more stories from his childhood and growing up in Millheim, Pennsylvania, adding jovially that, “it reads like a memoir, it relates real stories, events, and characterizations like a memoir, and it is as close to the truth as my own faded and jaded memory allows. So, it is all true, except for a little bit.”

Gary White of The Ledger, recently interviewed Lakeland lawyer and author Michael D. Martin on the release of his debut novel, The Crestfallen Rose. Michael says that this legal thriller was inspired by his experiences in environmental and agriculture law. In the article, he says, “I don't even feel like I'm an author.  I'm just a guy with a lot of experience. You just have to have an imagination and be willing to do it. I think everybody has a story to tell. I also believe maybe the best stories we'll never hear are from people who would like to be authors and haven't written anything.”
