A Time Before Me is not your typical work of gay fiction, most of which take place in a large urban American city. Rural Mississippi and New Orleans provide a unique backdrop for author Michael Perronne's second novel, the story of a young gay man as he comes of age. Perrone discusses what it's like to be gay in the South and the importance of defying stereotypes of gay literature.
Perronne is an adult education instructor and writer living in Los Angeles. He has a bachelor of arts in film from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master of fine arts from the Creative Writing Workshop at the University of New Orleans. Although Perronne lives in Los Angeles, he still calls the Deep South home.
A Time Before Me is a recent addition to the iUniverse Star Program.
