I’m sure he hated Sundays, because the paper was three times bigger than usual and possibly outweighed him. On these days, he sometimes had to grab the string tying the paper and drag it up the driveway. Finally on a wintry Sunday morning, when the snow was as high as his back, he rebelled. He’d finally had it with this master who demanded the impossible! After hopping in the snow for a few feet, looking for all the world like a brown rabbit, he would pause and look mournfully back at the door. “Do I have to?” Larry would encourage him and finally, he made it down the driveway to the paper at which time he turned, looked back one last time and then raised his leg. Very systematically he wet the paper from one end to the other. The message was clear! After retrieving the paper by human hands and drying it with the hair dryer, we never sent him out again in the snow without first shoveling a path. . .

The book is a humorous view of pet ownership, featuring a succession of miniature dachshunds, one unruly beagle, one hunting dog who never learned to hunt, several mixed breed shelter dogs, three rabbits, three rescue cats, and one "preppie gerbil." Nancy Clopton Myers holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri, where she was listed in Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities." Pets have been an integral part of her family for 50 years. She is retired from a long career in sales/management and lives with her cat, Cuddles in Overland Park, Ks.
