But I'm Not Sad
wherever you are tonight, i want you to know
that i'm here ALONE and i'm listening
to our song and my heartbeat
and i'm crying but i'm not sad,
'cause, truly, i have no right to be.
you hurt me, but i should be over you.
they say time heals all wounds
and i have to believe that
and keep on living, and find other lovers
because if i don't my tears will flow FOREVER
whoever you're with tonight
make sure you tell her
your promises are made of GLASS
tell her to be strong and independent
tell her not to fall for you too hard
'cause you won't be there to catch her.
i try to forget you in other arms
but tonight i'm ALONE, thinking of you

ANDREA SHANNON began writing poetry in her high school years. Even then, it was noted that she had a unique style of writing. Her collection of poems is based on life experiences and observations. Andrea currently resides in Columbus, Ohio. She is the mother of two and grandmother of three.
