iUniverse Title “Babygate” Acquired by The Feminist Press

Pregnancy and parenting guide written by three legal experts offers advice for the expecting and new parents for navigating the American workplace

BLOOMINGTON, IND. - December 04, 2013 -- iUniverse, an Author Solutions, LLC, supported self-publishing imprint and marketing services provider for authors around the globe, announced Wednesday that independent, nonprofit publisher The Feminist Press has acquired iUniverse title “Babygate: What You Really Need to Know about Pregnancy and Parenting in the American Workplace,” by Dina Bakst, Elizabeth Gedmark and Phoebe Taubman.

Bakst, Taubman and Gedmark self-published “Babygate” with iUniverse in April 2013.

“My co-authors and I are so pleased that ‘Babygate’ has been contracted by The Feminist Press,” said Bakst. “We are also grateful to iUniverse for its original publication of this book, which helped us get our book out there in the public eye.”

In “Babygate,” three legal experts share practical tips, real-life stories from moms and dads, and key legal information to spotlight the protections expecting and new parents have (and don’t have) in the workplace. This step-by-step guide covers everything from morning sickness to maternity leave to confronting discrimination on the job. It includes quizzes, charts, checklists, sample letters to employers, and a comprehensive breakdown of individual state laws on pregnancy, parenthood and the workplace.

“There’s not much more satisfying than helping our authors get published and seeing their books get picked up and promoted to a wider audience,” said Keith Ogorek, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Author Solutions, Inc. “‘Babygate’ is just the latest example, and we are so pleased for the authors.”

“The Feminist Press is thrilled to bring ‘Babygate’ to a larger audience,” said Jeanann Pannasch of The Feminist Press. “We are confident that countless new parents will benefit from this essential guide on how to navigate the workplace during pregnancy and early parenthood.”

The Feminist Press will rerelease “Babygate” on August 5, 2014.
