I already own a domain name. Can I use it for the Web site I purchase from iUniverse?

Yes. As long as you know with whom you registered your domain name (e.g. Yahoo, Godaddy), and as long as you know the username and password established for your domain name, you're all set. After purchasing the Author Web Site service and gaining access to the tools from American Author, simply login into your control panel, click on Domain Names and follow the instructions.

Can I take book orders and process credit card payments on my Web site?

Yes, you can add PayPal service to your website to process credit cards. American Author provides videos that explain adding PayPal to your website. However, your Web site does come pre-loaded with an order page linking to your book's page in the iUniverse online bookstore, so adding PayPal service isn't necessary unless you prefer it.

How do I purchase the service?

If you are a current iUniverse author and you would like to purchase the Web site for an existing book or a book that's currently in the production phase, simply log into your myUniverse account on our Web site. Then, click on "myBooks" and then on "Upgrade My Books." After that, you should see the Author Web Site service description. After reading the description, click "Order: Author Web Site." You'll be asked to specify the ISBN of the book or books you would like to appear on your Web site, and you'll be asked to supply payment information.

You may also purchase the Author Web Site service at the same time that you purchase one of our publishing packages or when you submit your manuscript.

What happens if I need to cancel my service?

If you are on a month-to-month hosting fee plan with American Author, you may cancel by giving them 30 days notice. You'll be charged for one additional month of hosting fees, and then at the end of that month American Author will discontinue your Web site. However, the domain name for which you registered will still be active unless you cancel it separately.

If you chose the option of paying your hosting fees in advance (six months to one year), the prepaid fees are nonrefundable, and your Web site will remain live until those fees are exhausted.

If I cancel my Web hosting, what happens to my Web site?

You own all of the content that you add to your Web site. If at some point you cancel your hosting, you may copy and paste all the content from your Web site to your computer or to pages on a new Web site. The template layouts, header images and operating software are the property of the hosting company and these cannot be transferred in the event of cancellation.
