The Production Process
You have put so much of yourself into your book. That shouldn’t stop when the production process begins. At iUniverse, our publishing specialists ensure your ideas are translated into a custom-designed book. An experienced team of professionals provide advice and support while allowing you to maintain creative control over all aspects of your book. You decide what is best for the project, and we design the book around your ideas.
Taking the First Step
After receipt of all your materials, we learn about your vision for the project before we begin to work on your book. To fully understand your ideas, we will assign a Publishing Services Assistant (PSA) to you who will verify all information about your book, help you choose a book size and discuss ideas for your custom color cover.
Collaboration with Different Publishing Specialists
The PSA will convey your thoughts and ideas with the book designer, who is responsible for the layout and interior design of your book throughout the production process. After reviewing your manuscript, your PSA will collaborate with you to choose the most attractive and readable book design for your genre. We will design your book and send you a galley proof to review.
Reviews and Revisions
As soon as you return the galley to us, we'll make any revisions you request and, if necessary, send you a second galley. This process will continue until you approve all content within your book. Once you have approved the galley and cover, we’ll place your book on our printer's production schedule.
Final Touches
Your book is turned into an electronic computer file that contains all the content - words, pictures, tables and other elements, including formatting specifications. From this file, we can generate books in a wide range of formats:
hardcover and
softcover, and
eBooks. The entire process is based on new digital technology, which means every copy is actually an original, with no loss of quality, even after thousands of copies. At every stage in the process, our unique author center allows you to check on the progress of your book by simply visiting our website.
