Why Publish with iUniverse?

My experience with iUniverse surprised even me. Everything came out better than I expected, faster than I expected. When I got my first book and I saw my cover on there, I realized that this was top quality, this was professional all the way, and covers do sell books as well as content. So, I was very satisfied with the cover design. I was very satisfied with the quality of the book that they produced. I was very pleased with the distributing channels they put it through. It was like opening up a whole new work I hadn’t really expected.

I had hand-holding along the way. If I didn’t know how to do something, how to download a document, I had to just call iUniverse. And, they walked me through it and they were very patient with me, because some of the questions I had, I’m sure they probably rolled their eyes. But, they were very helpful. Even when the finished copy of the book, when that came, it was such a delight to see my published book, and then I was able to run with it. iUniverse is not vanity publishing. A lot of people immediately think that it’s a publisher where you’re going to have tons of your books in your garage and you have to get out there and hand sell them. That’s the beauty of iUniverse, it’s very green friendly where the book is print on demand.

I had full control over what I wrote and how it was published, and how I could design the cover, and how I could have it distributed. I really liked the freedom to be able to do that rather than going with the traditional publisher route which sometimes you lose all freedom in your work.

You can still have your books in book stores, you can still have your book in all of the other channels that a New York House would put you in, but you don’t have to wait somebody to give you the permission to do something. You can just go do it. The idea of coming to iUniverse, and taking control, and making it happen was much more attractive to me than sitting around waiting for two more years to get another agent or publisher.

It exceeded all of my expectations, both in quality and professional design, and the speed with which it was published, and I can't say enough about how satisfied I am to have my books published with iUniverse.

It was a wonderful feeling when I sat at a book expo in Washington DC in 2006, I think it was, and I found out Without Grace was given the silver award for general fiction for book of the year. That was phenomenal. The gentleman sitting in front of me and goes, wow, and that’s a print and demand book; and that said it all.

Thank you.
