Submitting Your Materials: What Happens Next?
Transcript:
You’ve double-checked your materials. You're ready to submit them to us, and we’re ready to get started. We’ve streamlined our on-line submission process to an art. You’ll just need to log in to your MyUniverse account. If you haven’t already registered, you’ll need to do so by clicking on the ‘Create An Account’ hyperlink. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see the option to ‘Submit Materials.’ Click that button and follow the instructions as our Web site guides you through the submission and file uploading process.
You’ll tell us your title, select a book size and upload your manuscript and any images or other materials you may have for your book. The speed of the uploading process depends on the speed of your Internet connection, and the size of your files. If you have a dial up connection, it may take a while, especially if you’re sending us large image files. One possible solution would be to compress your image files using Winzip Compression software, available at www.winzip.com, but if you have high speed or broadband Internet, the uploading should go much faster. If you need any help with our Website, just give us a call at 1-800-AUTHORS and we’ll be happy to walk you through it.
If you’ve purchased manual submission, you can also mail your files on a CD or DVD to this address (iUniverse, 1663 Liberty Drive, Bloomington IN 47403). Please be sure to clearly label your discs and other materials with your full name and your book’s title. Since materials can be lost or damaged in the mail, we suggest sending copies, not the original discs. If you’re mailing hardcopy text for data entry or hardcopy images for scanning, we again strongly urge you to send photocopies, not the originals. iUniverse is not responsible for items lost or damaged in the mail.
After receiving your materials we’ll evaluate them to make sure that everything is ready for production. We’ll be looking for the same things discussed in some of our other videos, such as text formatting errors in the manuscript or low resolution images.
Once your materials have passed this review, you’ll be moved into the beginning stages of publication. If you’ve purchased our Select Package, your book will move into production to have the interior and cover designed based on the information you provided during your submission. If you’ve purchased any other package, all of which include our prestigious Editorial Evaluation, your book will first make a stop at our editorial department. You Publishing Services Associate team will be available to discuss your publishing package’s process and timelines and answer any questions you might have.
We trust that the information in these videos will help turn your manuscript into a professionally published book as quickly and as conveniently as possible, but we also realize that no two books are alike, and yours may have its own additional needs. Please visit our video tutorials where you can learn more about special formatting needs like footnotes, indices, or creating tables, and if you have any other questions or concerns, you can reach us by phone at 1-800-AUTHORS.
Thank you again for choosing iUniverse as your publisher. We look forward to working with you on a book we can both be proud of.
