iUniverse makes a concerted effort to recognize our best books with special programs that help accelerate success. To qualify for any of the programs mentioned in this video, your manuscript will first need to receive a positive editorial evaluation or have satisfactory revisions based on the evaluation. This will make your book eligible for our Editor’s Choice Designation.
At iUniverse, we have four key recognition programs you can qualify for: Editor’s Choice, Rising Star, Reader’s Choice, and the Star Program. Editor’s Choice is the first acknowledgement that your book positively answers that all important question that publishing professionals and readers alike ask about each and every book, is it good. With this designation, we will add the Editor’s Choice icon to your back cover. You will also be invited to forward iUniverse entry forms for contests or awards you cannot enter on your own. Perhaps, most importantly, Editor’s Choice is a stepping stone toward admission into other programs that iUniverse has created to help identify, support, and celebrate those titles that display potential for greater commercial success.
One of those programs is our Rising Star program. If you purchase our Premiere Pro Publishing package and qualify for Editor’s Choice, you will be invited to complete a marketing readiness survey. If your book passes the editorial and marketing requirements, you will receive professional support from the day of publication. Rising Star titles are presented by a commission sales force to national, regional, and local book sellers, including Barnes & Noble, Borders, and Books-A-Million. In addition, your Rising Star title will be featured on a special collections page at Barnes&Noble.com.
If your book earns Editor’s Choice, but not Rising Star, you’re still eligible for other recognition programs. If your Editor’s Choice title sells 250 copies or more, with at least half sold through the retail channel, you’ll be eligible for the Reader’s Choice program. The Reader’s Choice icon will be placed next to your book title at iUniverse’s online bookstore, signifying that your book is not only high quality but also in demand.
If you book sells more than 500 copies, half through the retail channel, you will be invited to apply to our Unique Star program. The Star Review Board will then evaluate your book to determine whether further investment will help you receive broader recognition and greater commercial success. Benefits of the Star Program include industry standard discounts and full return status with book retailers, a professional cover reassessment, and addition of the Star logo, and representation for sales for both domestic and foreign subsidiary rights such as book clubs and translation rights.
With our recognition programs, you’re not alone when it comes to increasing availability and awareness of your book. Many self publishing service providers offer to design your book and to get it out to the marketplace but do little else once your book is released to the public. iUniverse guides and supports you along the way, which is one of the important ways iUniverse distinguishes itself as a leader in the industry and why you should choose iUniverse as your publishing partner.
