iUniverse Author Profile: Jerry Parks

My name is Jerry L. Parks; and I’m from Lexington, Kentucky; and I have nine books published through iUniverse. Most of my books are nonfiction books. They’re reference books for education, and I have several books that are related to Christianity. I published my first book in 2003, so I’ve been a very busy author in addition to being a teacher since that time. I wrote a book for teachers who are pursuing National Board Certification. And because going through the process was so difficult for me, I thought perhaps I could write a book to help other teachers go through the process. I’m very happy to say that it’s been the one best-selling book on National Board Certification in America. On my Help, My Child is Starting Middle School book, I suggested a student to be put on the front of it that would reflect what a teenager or what a 12 year old would look like as they’re starting middle school, and the cover came back with a boy asleep at his desk, which as a teacher I know happens all the time. Somebody did that cover very well.  I’ve taught for 25 years, and I’ve been greatly rewarded in this educational profession. I was recently named the USA Today All American Teaching Team, which was my crowning achievement, so now I can retire.
