How to Incorporate Google Book Search in Your Free Preview

If you have purchased Google Book Search, you are able to include this function in the Free Preview section of your book’s page at the iUniverse Bookstore. To do so, first go to www.books.google.com and find your book. Just type in the title of your book in the search field at the top of the screen and then click ‘search books.’ The next screen will contain a list of search results. Locate your book in the list and click on it. On the next screen you’ll see your book’s Google Preview. On the top, right-hand side of the screen you’ll see the word “link.” Click on it, and two sets of code will appear. You want the second code, under the word “embed.” Click on the code. To make sure the entire code is selected, right-click with your mouse and choose ‘select all.’ Once all of the code is selected, you can copy it by either right-clicking on the code and choosing ‘copy,’ or by pressing “control” and the letter “C” simultaneously on your keyboard. Next, go to iUniverse and log into your MyUniverse account. If you have trouble logging in, contact a representative at 1-800-AUTHORS. Once inside your account, you’ll want to click where it says “book status.” On the next screen, click where it reads, “Update Free Preview.” When the next screen appears, click inside the ‘Update Free Preview’ field…And then, to paste your code, press “control” and the letter “V” simultaneously on your keyboard. You should then see the embedding code you copied from the Google Books’ Web site. If you don’t see the code, go back to Google Books and try recopying the code as shown earlier. If you see the code, click “Update” to finish. You have now successfully incorporated Google’s Book Search with your Free Preview at the iUniverse online bookstore. After clicking “update,” you’ll see a screen where you can change your ‘About the Book,’ but you don’t have to do so. Instead, you can just go to the bookstore tab and search for your book’s Web page to make sure the Google Search appears in your Free Preview section. Please note that it usually takes 5 to 10 minutes for the book store Website to update, so if you don’t see the Google Book Search in your Free Preview right away, just check back in a little while.
