About the Book
For young poet Rachenza Prosper, life comes with ups and downs. It can be cruel, but she uses pen and paper to get by and express how life affects her. The World in My Eyes is a book of poems based on the life of a teenage girl. Prosper writes not only to express herself but also to help other young women open up about the struggles they face.
The collection is separated into two parts. In Part One: Surroundings, Prosper covers the issues in life and topics that are important to her. In Part Two: Beauty, she shares how she struggled with self-image and even how she overcame that particular challenge. Despite what people might think, it’s not easy being a teenage girl in today’s world; sharing triumphs is an important way to boost other young women.
The World in My Eyes is honest and true, bold and brash. Detailing topics like insecurity, love, and friendship, Prosper’s words encompass the emotional inner workings of a modern girl on the cusp of womanhood. Her words will encourage and inspire as she bravely bares her own struggles in the hopes of lifting up other girls like her.
About the Author
Rachenza Prosper is currently a high school student who has been writing since she was a child. She lives with her mother in Boston, Massachusetts. This is her first poetry collection.
