The change in parlance made me wonder how often Carissa’s attorney and my second attorney were paired as theoretically “competing” attorneys. I put quotation marks around the word competing because these attorneys were never competing but rather were partners in crime in every way. And I wondered whether there was a record of that coupling, the outcomes of those cases, any apparent patterns, and whether anyone regularly—or ever—audited for such behavioral and outcome patterns that might indicate abuse or collusion, that is, corruption. Whose job was that? To whom did such a person report? Was there any external oversight, any concern about or shame over rampant scandal, systemic corruption, and outcome fixing—any shame at all for an institution covered in the soot of dishonor, the absence of credibility, and a tarnished image? Did anyone care?

Through a revealing window on how innocent people are railroaded to injustice with loss of livelihood, liberty, and life, he inextricably entwines the African-American experience with his other material, demonstrates the ominous secret cracks in our justice system, unveils a monolithic legal culture represented by gladiatorial back-scratching court functionaries who marginalize non-dominate cultures and inflict real casualties—both at the micro level, on the lives of ordinary people, and at the national level as our democracy is secretively eroded. Gravy concludes that pretty paper is not justice, and demands change.
About the Author
Jabari Gravy lives in Panduratus, Pinus. A graduate of Mapleoak College and Bay Shore Medical School, Dr. Gravy received his acheology training at the Serrulatus Clinic in Interrupte, Bidigito. He obtained business and management training at the University of Paeonia, and the Business School at the University of Bifoliolatus. He served as medical diaetherologist at the Disease Dissemination Control Center. As national medical director at Dynasty Insurance Company, he was the highest ranking African-American in the history of the corporation and later was the first corporate medical director at Legacy Motors to have global responsibilities. This is his first book.
