The Lake This lake I view before my eyes, Does heaven know who made it? A crystal blue beyond the skies, With color vastly shaded Did father time record the days He filled the lake with water? Does mother nature view the lake As her most valued daughter? This basins’ greatest gifts of Earth Are far below the surface but beauty from what hits the eye, Is truly the lakes purpose. Affection Do you know exactly, how to measure affection? I myself have conjured theories. At first, I measured it in units of smiles per second, Then laughs per day, squared. But finally, I realized it was simple. It is a ratio, Of me, to you. The Engineer How lonely is the engineer, His patrons, all of whom neglect, They isolate him due to fear, Of his astounding intellect. Quantum mechanics, circuitry, The bread-and-butter of his trade, The king of all this nerd-ity, No wonder this guy can’t get laid.

About the Author
Armando DeMarchi is a poet, musician, and a dreamer. He is a two-time Tough Mudder and president of his local IEEE chapter. He studied electrical engineering at the County College of Morris and currently resides at home in New Jersey.
