The Coming of the Witch

The great light speed weapons of the starship blasted into the planet and huge rents were made in the soil and rock. The attack had gone on for three days. For three days the starship had pounded Witch World and they still did not know why. There was no response from the starship other than the never-ending death from above. All of the cities of the planet lay in ruin, the citizens dead under tons of rubble. The entire Queen’s Guard had died the first day. They had saved the palace for last. The queen and four princesses were in the blue light of the pentangle when the walls blew in. Every single Guardian of the Queen died in that instant, but the pentangle held. The five witches muttered spells and prayed to the Light. Blackness enveloped the queen and the princesses. They could not see anything and they could not move. Laughter came from the blackness. “You think that you are so powerful in the Federation,” said the voice in the blackness. “You think that you are the most powerful witches.” “I made this planet what it is. It was MY power and I have come to take it back. Know as you die that I will destroy this planet utterly. I will not leave even a blade of grass alive.” The witch queen and the witch princesses were blasted by the blackness and they were dead in an instant.
