About the Book

Join Vito on his life's journey, a very bumpy ride, as he transitions from an ancient small town in Southern Italy to America, as seen through his eyes. The early years, the coming to America just befor WWII, the first traffic light at age nine, living in the Bronx, school and sports, the first kiss; Experiences that are sometimes happy, sometimes sad, sometimes puzzling, but always entertaining. The separate chapter on the favorite family stories is particularly funny, and you'll love Mikey and uncle Larry. It has elements of an Italian version of Alex Haley's "Roots", together with experiences that Dennis the Menace might have, if he ever decides to grow older, It is intended to also stimulate the reader's interest in their own family history.

About the Author

I am the last link between the Old Country and our Glorious Country. With me rest the stories of our ancestors that will be forever lost when I am gone. My grandchildren, through no fault of their own, have no idea of "where they came from". This is an attempt to fill that void, and to make all readers curious about their own history. We all have heroic or amusing ancestors, and knowing something of their lives would enrich our lives. This is the story of the transition from an ancient small town in Southern Italy to America, as seen through the eyes of a growing child. The early years, the coming to America just before WWII, the first traffic light at age nine, living in the Bronx, school and sports, the first kiss; experiences that are sometimes happy, sometimes sad, but hopefully always entertaining. I am retired, living with my wife Aida in Aliso Viejo, California. Nearby are two of our three children, and our three grandchildren. Besides visiting, and an occasional trip back East, my time is spent reading, writing, exchanging e-mails, walking, and watching TV, rooting for my favorite teams.
