About the Book

Beeeeeeeeeeeep! This is a jest. This is only a jest. Rhymes from the Recliner: A Collection of Couch Potato Poetry is a light-hearted devotional to classic television programming. It’s tinted with humor, irony, and affection, and intended to put a horizontal hold on lovers of prose and tv shows.

It is easily enjoyed by most everyone, though poetry readers and music listeners may be the most enthusiastic, for they will also notice that many of the poems are patterned after well known pieces of poetry and popular songs.

It is for people who have grown tired of others tuning in and dropping out when they quote the same old, stuffy bits of philosophy about life and love. It is for those who want to arm themselves with a clever verse about The Love Boat or Name that Tune, and turn themselves into a regular boob-tube troubadour.

It can be enjoyed with a latte at one’s favorite coffee shop, or with a beer and a bag of chips on an old sofa, munching and giggling to Hee Haw as interpreted thru Shakespeare.

There really is something good on television…………this book.

About the Author

Fifth Floor Freddy has watched a lot of tv and read several books, and thought that while this might not qualify him to write about Phoenician tea cozies or the history of felt, it might make him well-suited to write odes and lovesongs to classic television. Many things inspired him to undertake this endeavor, none of which include Grandma, a middle school English teacher, or That's So Raven, but do include Gary Larson, Sonic Cherry Limeades, and Manimal. In the interest of brevity, FFF has provided the following middle portion of his biography, and hopes that it will be sufficient. "...and then one thing led to another...."
