The moment I said that Simon instantly took over my body. It happened instantaneously in the blink of an eye. I was no longer in control of my body but could still see and hear what was happening? I had a small hand held mirror on my table that I used to paractice my sleight of hand with. I saw my self calmly walk over and pick up the mirror and hold it up to my face. My eyes! My eyes were different looking, wide and staring. But it was the color that freaked me out. They were blue! Colbalt blue! My eyes are hazel! Then I heard myself begin to speak. Simon was speaking through me. His voice was very calm and he spoke to me in almost a whisper. He said, "Silence. Enough of this. From this moment on you will do everything I tell you to do and you will tell no one of my existence unless I allow it. Anyone who learns of my existence and tries to interfere with my plans must die. Remember I have complete control over your body now. Do you understand? But you say that you want out. I told you from the beginning that once we merged it was until death do us part." He put down the mirror and looked over at Lucky's walking chain hanging from the wooden beam. He slowly pushed one of the chairs from the kitchen table over under the loop of chain. He stood in the chair and placed my head into the loop of chain. He then said, "This is your only way out!" He then stepped off of the chair into space. Just as my toes hit the floor the chain slammed into my throat! It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life! I fell to the floor immediately and could move again. I just laid there for a moment. Tears welling up in my eyes now, I covered my face with both hands.

In 1995 forty year old Paul Michaelson makes a long overdue appointment seeking help from psychiatrist Dr. Morris Bornstein. He tells the doctor that he has been harboring a terrible secret for most of his life.

But did he? Was he really possessed by a spirit or was he sufferering from a serious mental illness? That is what he hopes the doctor can tell him. His life as a living Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde has been a living Hell.
In "The Shadow of Simon Magus" author Samuel Spulman explores the facts of this bizarre real life case and the story behind the story. For Paul believes that the entity which has enhabited his body came from the family's previous home. The one they moved away from when he was only 4 years old.
