The Talisman

Colin and his friends rushed to the first meteor and it loomed over them, nearly twenty feet in diameter, and Colin reached into his knapsack to retrieve the branches. He held them out to Shizarah, who returned them to their former dagger state, before doing the same to the knapsack, Colin’s hat, her staff, and Stonewall’s battle axe. She took a few steps back behind the two of them and Stonewall moved forward to the meteor before carefully prodding it with the dull end of his axe. They waited for any sort of response from it then turned their attention back to the tear in the sky. An ear-splitting crack sounded from the meteor before it fell into two pieces, and the group found themselves face to face with a grotesque creature. It had large teeth protruding from its underbite, two sets of beady red eyes, spiked horns that went back before flipping around to point forwards, and two sets of arms ending in massive clawed hands. A thick tail curled around its bulky legs. Its skin was grey and leathery, with patches of fur that seemed to grow around scars from past battles. It stared at them for a heartbeat before letting out a roar that even Stonewall flinched at.
