About the Author
Lewis W. Green was born in 1932 in Haywood County, in the North Carolina Mountains he describes so graphically. He was a reporter for the Asheville (N.C.) Citizen for ten years and won a number of press awards in Associated Press and North Carolina Press Association competitions. He is author of an original fable entitled ?The Year of the Swan?, published in 1966, and has contributed poetry short fiction to national magazines. He has also, in the past years published And Scatter the Proud and The Silence of Snakes both novels set in western North Carolina, a collection of short stories entitled The High Pitched Laugh of a Painted Lady, and a Korean War novel entitled Spirit Bells.
