David Zachary, a United States Department of State foreign service officer stationed in Washington, D.C., begins to perceive sinister motives in China’s slow but steady insinuation into much of the Western Hemisphere.

His growing knowledge of China’s secret intentions is buttressed by information uncovered by Mei Lin Kwan, a young Chinese-born reporter for the Washington Gazette.

Together they discover more than they should and soon find themselves directly in the middle of events which could severely disrupt Chinese-American relations and cause an upheaval in global politics and economics.

China’s long term goal of supreme economic dominance of the world becomes threatened by the pair’s information. Thus, a clash between The Lotus and The Rose develops.

About the Author

After 40 years as a journalist and editor and the teaching of those subjects at several universities, James Couch brings a great deal of knowledge to The Lotus and The Rose.

After college he served as an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Army in Tokyo. He served as a foreign service officer in Laos and Japan. Traveling in over 50 countries and a lifetime of writing skills have been injected into this novel.
